Thank You!

Bev Wilson CPS/CAP, Indiana Division Past President, wishes to express her appreciation to members for their kindness during the loss of her Father:

To all of my IAAP friends:

I would like to thank all of you for your kind words of sympathy and concern during this difficult time. It is never easy losing someone you love but it does help to know so many are caring about you and are praying for you. Please continue to keep my family in your prayers, especially my mom, as we go through the upcoming holidays.

Questions for International Board

NOTE: Deadline October 30!

Wendy Melby CPS/CAP, Great Lakes District Director, advises that the International Board will be meeting in Boston on November 5 through November 7.    This will be our time to ask questions, raise concerns, and/or share ideas to the full Board of Directors.  So, if you have anything that you would Wendy to bring up before them please let me know no later than Friday, October 30.

Nominations for International Officers

Forms for nominations to IAAP International Office or Retirement Trust Foundation Trustee are to be completed and sent via e-mail to the chapter president. If a chapter president or division member-at-large is being nominated, the division president should submit the nomination. Note that according to the IAAP International Bylaws and Standing Rules any chapter, division or affiliate association, by vote of its members, may nominate only one of its qualified members as a candidate for international office and must do so prior to January 15, 2010. The chapter or division president will forward the entire application by e mail to the Committee on Nominations chairman no later than 5:00 pm ET January 15, 2010, copying the executive director.

Candidates for IAAP International Office and RTF Trustee may not conduct an educational workshop at the 2010 IAAP International Education Forum and Annual Meeting. Candidates also may not serve as 2010 annual meeting coordinator or co-coordinator. Upon election, all candidates are expected to sign and adhere to the following document: Confidentiality Agreement and Conflict of Interest Statement.

All nomination submissions will be reviewed by the committee after the deadline of January 15, 2010. Any applications found to be incomplete will be disqualified. Candidates will be informed by February 1, 2010, of acceptance or non-acceptance of candidacy.

November is Trust Month!

As you know, November is one of the two months in which there is a major focus on the Trust – sharing information on what it is, its benefits to our members, and ways in which we can raise funds for this important Foundation.

Promotion can include:

Article in newsletters

Presentation on the RTF at the chapters (newly updated PowerPoint presentation is available on the website)

Brochures

Ways to support the Trust include:

Pin

Holiday Cards

Patio Pavers

Monetary contributions (individually through Family of Givers Program or as chapter or division)

Fund raisers!

Benefits of supporting the Trust:

Monetary contributions are tax deductible; the Trust is a 501(c)3 organization.
Recognition through the Family of Givers Program.

And…Providing assistance for housing to administrative professionals, age 55 and older, who are in need.

That, in a nutshell, is our b
iggest benefit – and our new mission statement for the Trust.

Please note that contributions are being submitted differently this year.
All contributions throughout the Great Lakes District will be sent to headquarters through Karen Kohn CPS/CAP. So, chapter members should submit their contributions to their chapter treasurer who will forward them to the division treasurer. The division treasurers then send them all to Karen, and they will be sent directly to headquarters. This new procedure, while sounding a bit bureaucratic, will streamline the work required to process the contributions for headquarters staff. It will also assist in ensuring contributions are credited properly.

Finally—and importantly—members received a new online survey from the RTF. This survey is short but extremely important for future planning purposes of the Trust. Your added encouragement to your members to complete this survey as soon as possible will be gratefully appreciated.

Kathy is available to answer any questions you may have.

The Gift of IAAP Membership

We are launching a campaign just in time for holiday giving but perfect for anytime of the year. The Gift of Membership will make it easy for members to either renew a membership of a friend or co-worker or give them a new membership. Members can gift all levels of membership for new or renewing members. This can be done anonymously if the giver chooses.

Here’s how it works: Members either mail/fax in the Gift of Membership form or call Headquarters with their information, including payment, and the name, address and e-mail of the recipient. After the membership department gets the information, they will send out an e-mail informing the recipient of his or her Gift of Membership. It only takes a few minutes but gives a gift that lasts an entire year. You can access the sign-up forms here:

http://www.iaap-hq.org/join/gift.html

At this time, there is no end date for the Gift of Membership program.
